In the U.S., the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out has moved at a strong pace, with about half of Americans now having received at least one shot. While many of the most motivated people have been able to get vaccinated by now, plenty of others still have questions. They may wonder if the vaccines are safe in general, or safe for them personally if they have a particular condition. They may have been confronted with conflicting information about the efficacy of vaccines.

HIV Vaccine Awareness Day

The global focus on the development and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines over the past year has been a reminder that there are still many other diseases for which the world has long sought a vaccine. Since 1998, May 18 has been observed as HIV Vaccine Awareness Day (also known as World AIDS Vaccine Day) by advocates, healthcare professionals, and communities dedicated to HIV prevention and vaccine research, with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) often taking the lead in its observance. HIV Vaccine Awareness Day provides a good opportunity for vaccine developers to provide updates on research efforts with articles, webinars, and special events.

Competitive Intelligence Gets a Boost with Reaxys Patent Expansion

The insights only found in patents can provide a crucial competitive advantage for innovative companies. In response to customer demand, Elsevier recently announced a major expansion of the patent content available to users of Reaxys, our chemistry information solution. Users can now get relevant patents for pharma and chemical R&D from 105 patent offices and 170 IPC classes. This also includes English language translations of foreign-language patents, which is important given that scientific advances are being made every day all across the globe.
